Complete Streets Workshops: “Streets Designed for Everyone”
Cynthia regularly gives two-day Complete Streets workshops, called “Laying the Foundation for Complete Streets” for agency officials and professionals. She has recently presented in
Complete Streets & Transit Oriented Development, Competing Interests and Needs in Hennepin County: State-Aid Standards, Hennepin County, Minneapolis, MN
Cynthia was part of a team of national experts who worked with Hennepin County, MN to improve access to transit through utilizing complete streets design that focused on transit oriented development.
Cook County Complete Streets Project, IL
As a sub-consultant, Cynthia provided significant input in the development of a resource on inter-jurisdictional collaboration for Complete Street approaches to road design. The resource was one part of the Cook County Department of Public Health’s “Healthy HotSpot” initiative, in which municipalities received free expert technical assistance to help create a Complete Streets approach to roadway design to make roads safe and accessible for all users.
Multimodal Corridor Enhancement (MCORE) Project, Champaign-Urbana, IL
​Cynthia served as a consultant with Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District, IL to obtain a $15.7 million dollar TIGER grant to rehabilitate streets on core transit corridors and bring them into a state of good repair while redesigning them to safely accommodate all roadway users including bicyclists, pedestrians, vehicles, and transit riders. The project began implementation in March 2017 to install complete streets designs on the major corridors in the heart of the campus at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.
